So we are now a week removed from the Derek Chauvin case and him being guilty, guilty, guilty. I can still remember how it felt like time stopped as the verdict was being reading. Afterwards? I’m not sure what I felt/feel exactly. A lot of emotions and what do we do with them arose. My Black family, my Black chat groups, my Black peers, and everybody Black was feeling it. I’m trying to make sense of it.

I’m trying or rather I’m always trying to understand what do I with these feelings. These feelings about myself as a Black person…

It’s highly unfortunate, but the events of the Atlanta massacre shouldn’t have happened. Solidarity to the Asian community within the US and a far. Alas, we live in a society that isn’t just.

It’s simple: We must denounce anti-Asian racism loudly. Because what happened in Georgia shouldn’t have happened. People are in pain because of senseless violence & loss of life. Discrimination against any marginalized community isn’t welcomed. People need reassurance now and more than ever.

Again, we must be frank & very direct when speaking about hate crimes. We are well past speaking around the racists societal constructs that…

The Warring States era of Japan was a time of nearly two centuries of constant civil, political, and social conflict. presents a historical fantasy retelling of this era in a land filled with demons. Although highly different, our reality is somewhat like the era presented. We live in a time where powerful people have the reins over our livelihoods. Our present and ultimately our future is seemingly out of our control. How do we respond to living under a system that is against our best interests? How do we navigate these turbulent times? …

It’s now Black History Month in the US and I find myself asking the same questions. What is Blackness? How do I continue to support it? How do I express unapologetically? How do I(we) gatekeep it? How do I continue to show the world we are here?

The most obvious answer I’ve come to after 2020? The crux of whom we are should be appreciated for the infinite universe that is our lived experiences. — Past, present, and future. The celebration of our Blackness shouldn’t rely on educating those whom aren’t Black. We truly maintain our Blackness when we don’t…

With the month of January almost done, are you practicing your wellness?

I recently had a lengthy conversation with someone and I noticed that I didn’t speak about how I’m taking care of myself. So, let’s take the time to remember wellness before the year moves on.

So, have you been sleeping well, barring if you have any issues? Have you been able to eat? Eat well? Or at least eat what brings you comfort?

Aside from your career goals and aspirations have you been able to note your personal goals? Are you working on being a better person? Have…

Social media platforms finally decided to take action against Donald Trump and other harmful people. The problem? These actions are as relevant as being fired before your last day on the job.

He is marked as the leading reason for the Capitol Hill attempted coup last week. Let’s remember he often used his platforms to incorrectly say the election was stolen. This then turned in rousing the his supporters. So as a result, he’s effectively been banned from every major social media platform.

Weeks before his presidency is over, it’s been decided his words are dangerous. Once he was banned…

Eugene shares his role in helping this unique game come to life

During the Game Awards show this past December, Scavengers Studio revealed a trailer for their new upcoming game Season. Many online (myself included), were awestruck by this new beautiful game. You take on the role of a young woman on an adventure recording cultures before they fade away. We haven’t seen an adventure quite like this before.

To get a better understanding of the game, I had the chance to interview one of the creative minds behind it. So I got to speak with the senior character animator of Season, Eugene Jarvis.

Yes, this year was horrible. It was especially difficult for people whom are a part of marginalized communities. For us within the Black community it’s been truly harrowing. We were constantly reminded things are worse for us because of racism. Still, regardless of all these things Black people are still here and we continue to prosper.

Content warning; mentions of the pandemic, and general racism.

So we have a global pandemic, a threat that’s literally dangerous to everyone. Logically, one would assume this should be a clear call to action for us all. However, what we saw from our elected…

After my birthday this past weekend, I engaged in a lifetime tradition of reflecting on the year. However how do we even conceptualize 2020? This year compacted so many problems ever present in society, it’s hard to not see this year entirely as bad. Eventually, I came down to: How did we cope with this year?

Coping mechanism is defined as:

an adaptation to environmental stress that is based on conscious or unconscious choice and that enhances control over behavior or gives psychological comfort. —

Before we get into how did we cope. We have to remember we had…

So, over 70 million of ya’ll saw the god damn mess we live in and thought it, yeah this is cool. Dear white people, there is no saving you (the 57% whom voted for Trump) and those of you whom embrace white proximity. You are a lost cause and truly far gone. So far gone, a poor federal response to a deadly virus that has taken over 200,000 lives will not shake your conservative support.

I write this to make more sense of why you all vote this way and will continue to do so. As well as remind myself…
