I’m Merely Petals On A Sidewalk

Magenta petals fallen on a rain-slicked sidewalk.
Am I not like this image before me?.
A sidewalk that can do nothing but be still.
Be still as this rain engulfs me.
Below those gray skies I loathe.

I am unmovable and helpless.
The rain, can I not fight it?
Can any of us fight nature? The inevitable?
I have no choice but to accept it.
Melancholy feelings wash over me.

But these petals, are brief joy.
Bringing new color to my life.
My dull gray world is now a canvas.
These fallen petals won’t last though
I appreciate their presence.

Still am I not like this drab sidewalk?
Time and again the rain comes.
It shows me it’s unrelenting strength.
I can do nothing but remain.
Please don’t wear me down to nothing.

Yes, I hate despise the rain.
It reminds me, I don’t have control of everything.
During these times, this message is deafening.
Regardless joy does exist under grey skies.
Magenta roses, give me life and joy.
Beautiful times are ahead, because that too is nature.
